Questions to Ask a School ERP Vendor
Beyond the feature list
Every vendor has a feature list. The questions that matter are about ownership, access, and what happens when something goes wrong.
Ask these
- Are records tenant-isolated, or shared across institutions?
- Are permissions enforced on the server, or only hidden in the interface?
- Does it handle Bikram Sambat dates natively?
- Can we export our own data in an open format?
- How are provider failures and retries shown?
- What does implementation and migration actually involve?
Watch for honest states
A vendor that shows queued, pending, and failed states honestly is usually a vendor that respects your operation. A vendor that shows only green checkmarks is hiding the hard parts.
Trial the workflow, not the demo
Ask to run one real workflow with your data, not a scripted demo. The workflow is where the truth is.
Choosing well is less about the longest feature list and more about which vendor answers these questions plainly.
